Sandrine Kwan is a French-Canadian artist of Chinese origin. She studied Creative Arts at Dawson College and Cultural Studies at McGill University.
Self-taught, she sought out dance classes, workshops, personal and professional experiences that would contribute to her work. Her journey led her to meet like-minded people through various dance, theatre and performance art workshops. Through these, she finally realised she was always a fringe dweller trying to evolve in a conventional setting.
The original idea for her ‘Ici/Now 202x’ project was born during her 6-week quarantine at her family cottage. Further research began in the summer of 2022 during a residency at Studio 303 and continued in 2023 at MAI. An upcoming mini-residence is set for January 2025.
She currently lives in Montréal.
